The article produced here aims to discuss the theme of voluntary servitude in young people who are almost permanently connected to their accounts on digital social networking platforms. In this bibliographical article, which is understood as exploratory research, we discuss issues such as virtual space and its particularities, persuasiveness of algorithms, youth engagement and the strategies used by companies to be ubiquitous in the lives of younger people, who see their smartphones as appendages of their bodies. The main result is a critical analysis around the theme, trying to present new possibilities of understanding. The main conclusion is that there is a behavior of voluntary servitude in younger people, who seek to respond to social anxieties through cold platforms that harm them.
