Resumen

This work lists the characteristics of the contemporary era inscribed in “liquid” modernity and requiring flexibility, lightness, fluidity, acceleration, and creativity from productive processes and involved workers. It discusses the impacts of paradigmatic transformations in the world of labor, production, society, and in vocational and technological education. This article describes the new profile for the vocational training teacher, resulting from research with teachers and leaders in this field in Brazil. It discusses the necessary teacher educational background to develop the profile required in the contemporary setting.
